Evonik Butene-1 Combustible gas

Material Notes: CAS No: 106-98-9

Butene-1 is a colorless, combustible gas with a characteristic odor. It is easily condensable under pressure. Butene-1 is soluble in hydrocarbons, alcohols and ethers, but virtually insoluble in water (0.5 g/l at 20°C). Butene-1 is highly flammable.

Application:

  • comonomer for polyethylene (LLDPE, HDPE)
  • comonomer for ethylene/propylene copolymers
  • alkylation products
Antioxidants, plasticizers, herbicides, corrosion inhibitors or additives to lubricating and hydraulic oils are accessible via the intermediate products sec.-butanol, butane oxide or amyl alcohol.
