Eastman 1390P Polyethylene  (discontinued **)
Categories: Polymer; Thermoplastic; Polyethylene (PE); Low Density (LDPE)

Material Notes: Low-density polyethylene 1390P is used primarily in extrusion-coating applications that require fast line speeds and relatively low coating weights. When compared with other low-density polyethylene coating materials that have considerably lower melt indexes, 1390P has slightly better adhesion to paper substrates and can be heat-sealed at a slightly lower temperature. However, high melt index coating materials produce slightly more neck-in and a narrower heat-sealing temperature range. Designed for applications such as sugar pouches and freezer wrap, where high coating speeds and good drawdown are required. The combination of high melt index and low density also provides good heat seals at high packaging or sealing rates.

List of Applications:

  • Coatings for paper/paperboard
