TPC Group TPC 5230 Highly Reactive Grade Polyisobutylene
Categories: Polymer

Material Notes: Characteristics: TPC 5230 is colorless (water white), has very low moisture transition rates, is non-corrosive, can be used for emulsions and is hydrophobic with a molecular weight range of 2100 – 2500. TPC 5230 is a highly reactive polyisobutylene (HR-PIB) grade, which means that greater than 80% of its double bonds are in the terminal position of the molecule (alpha).

Applications: TPC 5230 can be used for a variety of applications such as: fuel and lubricant oil additives, emulsifiers, viscosity modifiers, pour point depressants, corrosion inhibitors, tackifiers, PIBSA reactions, polyethylene stretch/cling films, emulsions, asphalt/bitumen and various adhesives and sealants .

General: HR-PIB is especially valued in the fuel and lubricant market as it delivers improved end product performance to the consumer and better manufacturing economics for the additive supplier. Processing with HR-PIB also produces less char during manufacture and the derivative products are used to improve funal lubricant and fuel performance. TPC Group offers the broadest portfolio of PIB products to the market and is a major supplier to many different markets, including fuels and lubricants, caulks, sealants, adhesives, packaging, greases and emulifiers.

Packaging: TPC 5230 is typically sold in railcar quantities.
