Wacker Elastosil® R 512/70 Silicone Rubber
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Silicone; Silicone Rubber

Material Notes: Product description: ELASTOSIL® R 512/70 is a peroxide crosslinking HCR silicone for the manufacture of silicone-insulated safety cables that maintain circuit integrity in case of fire.

Properties: The color of the rubber base is white. Therefore, preliminary tests are required to match the RAL color of the masterbatches used in paste or pellet form in the compound (pastel colors).

Special features:

  • good mechanical and electrical properties
  • good rheological properties
  • good heat stability
  • in case of fire formation of a ceramic-like layer with high insulation resistance and good mechanical stability without formation of corrosive or toxic gases
  • in case of fire low smoke density
  • remains functional above 950°C in case of fire
Application: For flame resistant cable constructions (safety cables). Cables made of ELASTOSIL® R 512/70 have successfully passed standards, like NFC 32070 CR1, DIN 4102 part 12, UL 2196, EN 50200, IEC 60331-11, etc.

Ratio: ELASTOSIL® R 512/70-1 : ELASTOSIL® R 512/70-2
