Dispersant for the production of polyester based flexible slabstock foam Addovate RM is used in combination with Addovate WM and Addovate SM for the production of polyester based flexible slabstock foam. When Addovate RM is used, its emulsifying effect is such that the amount of Addovate WM can be reduced by about 50% of the amount of Addovate RM used. Due allowance should be made for the water content when formulating. Addovate RM has a greater effect on the crosslinking reaction than does Addovate SM. This offers particular advantages in the production of foams with densities lower than 35 kg/m³. The amount of Addovate SM can be kept low; this has a favorable effect on the tendency to core discoloration. Scorching can also be reduced by the additional use of Addovate LM. Any consequent tendency to cracking can be offset by increasing the amount of Addovate RM -rather than increasing the proportion of Addovate SM. Too much Addovate RM leads to foams having a more closed-cell structure, or to shrinkage. The amount of Addovate RM to be used depends on the required foam density. The lower the density, the more Addovate RM must be used. Information provided by Lanxess. |
