Lanxess X_Butyl™ R 1551 PG Butyl Rubber
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Rubber or Thermoset Elastomer (TSE)

Material Notes: X_Butyl™ R 1551 PG is a new low unsaturation, high purity regular butyl elastomer grade with improved cure characteristics. In resin cure systems, compounds containing new X_Butyl™ R 1551 PG achieve comparable crosslink density more quickly than existing regular butyl grades with higher unsaturation. The reduced unsaturation results in improved aging characteristics in resin cure applications such as curing bladders and envelopes while still offering improved production throughput.

Key Properties: In addition to the key properties of butyl rubber such as impermeability, X_Butyl™ R 1551 PG has:

  • improved purity (as measured by ash)
  • reduced additives
  • reduced unsaturation
  • improved cure characteristics
Benefits:
  • reduced cycle times for curing leading to higher production throughput
  • reduced curatives for resin cured articles
  • improved aging characteristics for a longer lasting product
