| Laponite OG has been developed to produce shear sensitive and thixotropic structure in water based formulated products. It is particularly useful in formulations that contain higher levels of bleach, acids or surfactants. The level of viscosity developed by this grade remains stable over a wide range of electrolyte levels, giving advantages when used in systems where the soluble content of the formulation changes during ageing. Laponite OG shows strong synergistic interactions when used in combination with polymeric co-thickeners such as CMC, xanthan gum and polyacrylates in many different applications such as surface coatings, liquid cleaners and personal wash products. When hydrated in water at up to 3% concentration, Laponite OG will produce low viscosity translucent colloidal dispersions. The low viscosity of this dispersion makes it easy to produce a homogenous mixture when it is combined with other formulation ingredients.
