Wacker Wacker® Silane IO-TRIMETHOXY
Categories: Fluid

Material Notes: Empirical formula: C11H26O3Si

CAS No.: 34396-03-7

SILANE IO-TRIMETHOXY is a clear, colorless liquid with a characteristic odor.

The use of SILANE IO-TRIMETHOXY to render fillers water repellent considerably improves their dispersibility and reduces their sedimentation tendency. Mineral-filled plastics can thus be processed more easily. SILANE IO-TRIMETHOXY is suitable for waterrepellent impregnation of construction materials (especially concrete and reinforced concrete). It increases their resistance to alkalis and reduces water absorption, thus improving durability. As an ingredient in silane-crosslinking formulations, SILANE IO-TRIMETHOXY can be used to influence mechanical properties and curing behavior.

Special features: SILANE IO-TRIMETHOXY is a mixture of isomeric octyltrimethoxysilanes, with iso-octyltrimethoxysilane as the main component. SILANE IO-TRIMETHOXY is practically insoluble in water. The silanes hydrolyze slowly in the presence of moisture (methanol is released) to form reactive silanols, which can then react with themselves to produce siloxanes.

SILANE IO-TRIMETHOXY is used to render a wide range of surfaces and materials water repellent (e.g. construction materials, fillers). SILANE IOTRIMETHOXY is also used in the production of silanecrosslinking formulations.
