Melinex® 864 is a polyester film, chemically treated on two sides. Both sides are designed for printing and extruded polyethylene adhesion. One side is enhanced to promote metal adhesion. Melinex® 864 currently is approved for indirect food contact applications. Melinex® 864 is biaxially oriented, two side treated, polyester film which is compliant with Food and Drug Administration food additive regulation 21CFR 177.1630. It can be used in applications requiring direct food contact with all types of food (excluding alcoholic beverages) at temperatures up to and above 250°F (including oven baking or cooking) and for alcoholic beverages (not to exceed 50% alcohol by volume) at ambient temperatures.
