Wacker Elastosil® R plus 4000/50 Silicone Rubber
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Silicone; Silicone Rubber

Material Notes: Product description: ELASTOSIL® R plus 4000/50 is a platinum-catalyzed addition-curing, two-part silicone rubber for manufacturing molded articles. Cured articles are of high transparency and show an excellent tear resistance.

Special features: ELASTOSIL® R plus 4000/50 is a fast curing silicone rubber showing high elongation values and an excellent tear resistance. No peroxide decomposition products are formed during vulcanization. In order to obtain an intermediate hardness ELASTOSIL® R plus 4000/50 can be blended in any ratio with other grades of the ELASTOSIL® R plus 4000 series. The platinum catalyst batch ELASTOSIL®AUX PT 2 should be added as the last component.

Application: ELASTOSIL® R plus 4000/50 is especially suitable for molded articles with high transparency and an excellent tear resistance, e.g. for the manufacture of diving masks. ELASTOSIL® R plus 4000/50 is suitable for use under the Recommendation XV. Silicones of the BfR and FDA 21 CFR §177.2600 "Rubber Articles Intended for Repeated Use" provided that the product is appropriately cured/ post-cured and the respective limits for extractable/migrating or volatile components are met.
