Master Bond UV15-7LRI One Component UV Curable Polymer
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset

Material Notes: Key Features:
  • One component, fast curing
  • Optically clear
  • Low refractive index
  • Superior dimensional stability
  • Low viscosity
  • Rigid curing
Product Description: Master Bond UV15-7LRI is a one component, low viscosity, UV curable polymer system for bonding, sealing, coating and encapsulating. The system has good physical strength properties; rigid but not brittle. UV15-7LRI cures quickly in 10-30 seconds when exposed to a UV light source emitting at a wavelength of 320-365 nm with an energy output as low as 20-40 milliwatts/cm2. The rate of cure depends upon the compound’s distance from the light source, the thickness of the section and of course, the intensity of the light source. UV15-7LRI can cure in sections from 0.080-0.0120 inches deep. However, when bonding, a section of a few thousandths of an inch is more than adequate. UV15-7LRI also possesses excellent electrical insulation properties. It is not oxygen inhibited and therefore does not require any special treatment in that regard. UV15-7LRI is optically clear with excellent light transmission properties. It bonds well to glass, surface treated metals and plastics such as polycarbonates and acrylics, among others. It is especially useful to note that the refractive index is an exceptionally low 1.481. As mentioned above, UV15-7LRI can be cured in sections with thicknesses up to 0.125 inch deep making it well suited for various electronic and opto-electronic potting and encapsulation applications. The system does not contain any solvents or volatiles and none are released during cure. UV15-7LRI offers excellent chemical resistance to water, fuels, acids and bases. Its service temperature range is -60°F to +250°F . Ideal for high production applications where fast fixture times and rapid curing are critical, UV15-7LRI is widely used in fiber-optic, optical, electronic and related industries.

Product Advantages:

  • One component system; no mixing needed; ready to use as supplied
  • Exceptionally fast cure upon exposure to a UV light source at ambient temperatures
  • No air inhibition while curing; no special inert atmosphere required
  • Good electrical insulator
  • Excellent dimensional stability
  • Outstanding optical clarity; excellent light transmission
  • Low refractive index
