Northstar Polymers ARC18-FOAM Polyurethane Foam Foam
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Polyurethane, TS; Thermoset Polyurethane, Elastomer, Unreinforced

Material Notes: ARC18-FOAM is a polyurethane foam resin formulation designed to make heavy duty archery targets and other custom products. Molded/cured foam made of ARC18-FOAM has a firm/flexible consistency with skin. The foam yields ideal consistency for archery target products with the ability to stop the arrow with self-healing properties. When processed in a proper mold and mold release agent, the surface of the product is nice and smooth. The processor can mix the two liquid A/B components at room temperature with manual mixing tools. The foam rises and cures without special heating equipment. The foam can be processed in a compression mold or open-top mold. The partial-open-cell foam structure minimizes the shrinkage factor when processed at an open-top mold. The free-rise density of the foam is 17.5 pounds per cubic foot. In a compression mold, compressed foam density can be at 18.0 to 19.0 pounds per cubic foot to enhance firmness or to mold more complex shaped parts. This formulation is an MDI-based water-blown system, and it does not use ozone-depleting auxiliary blowing agents. It is a polyether/polyester hybrid foam material with good oil resistance. UV Stabilizer additive (optional) can be added for better outdoor stability. This formulation may be used in archery-target-making applications and other applications that require a high rebound/recovery rate after impacts and compressions such as bumpers, exercise mats, sporting goods, light-load wheels, and many other custom products and parts.
