Mo-Sci Corporation GL 1661 Hyroxyapatite Bioactive Glass
Categories: Ceramic; Glass

Material Notes: A porous object composed of nanosize hydroxyapatite crystals with white color in powder or spherical form. Applications: Healthcare; an absorber for ions, molecules, and drugs; environmental remediation; etc. Bioactive glasses have the ability to bond to soft and/or hard tissue and are biodegradable in the body. The release of ions and the formation of hydroxyapatite support the regeneration of bone tissue and can accelerate the healing process. These glasses are made from high purity (analytical and reagent grade) chemicals, keeping unwanted trace impurities to a minimum. Precious metal or high purity ceramic crucibles are used to melt these glasses in dedicated furnaces and they are processed in an environmentally controlled space.
