Special Metals NILO® Alloy 48 Controlled-Expansion Alloy
Categories: Metal; Nonferrous Metal; Nickel Alloy; Superalloy; Iron Base

Material Notes: Inflection point 460°C. A nickel-iron controlled-expansion alloy containing 48% nickel. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is designed to match that of soft lead and soda-lime glasses. The alloy also has a high inflection point. Used for glass-to-metal seals in radio valves and incandescent electric light bulbs and for industrial thermostats that operate at temperatures up to 840°F (450°C). Standard product forms are round, flats, tube, strip, and wire.

Data provided by the manufacturer, Special Metals.

Key Words: UNS K94800; ASTM F 30; DIN 17745; Werkstoff Nr. 1.3922, 1.3926, 1.3927; AFNOR NF A54-301
