Trelleborg Offshore Vikotherm™ 73185 Insulative Elastomer
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Rubber or Thermoset Elastomer (TSE)

Material Notes: Vikotherm™ is a rubber elastomer chemically modified to provide very high insulating characteristics while maintaining its inherent rubber properties in respect of seawater resistance, pressure resistance, mechanical properties and temperatures.

Vikotherm™ systems provide good adhesion between systems and substrates such as Duplex, Super Duplex, Carbon Steel, and Titanium. The product is applied in three layers, the innermost layer provides corrosion protection, the central layer ensures thermal insulation and the outer layer acts as a protective cap, giving protection against impact, abrasion and seawater ingress.

Both the inner and outer layers are made from a soft rubber with good flexibilities and the central layer is of hard rubber in order that thermal conductivity remains low even in deeper water. All of the layers are chemically bonded together and the inner layer is bonded to the steel surface.

This grade is part for the inner layer.
