Wacker Genioplast® Pellet P Plus Silicone Gum
Categories: Other Engineering Material; Additive/Filler for Polymer; Polymer; Thermoset; Silicone

Material Notes: Product description: GENIOPLAST® PELLET P PLUS is a pelletized silicone gum formulation with an outstanding high loading of ultrahigh molecular weight (uhmw) siloxane polymer.

Properties: GENIOPLAST® PELLET P PLUS does not contain any thermoplastic resin as a carrier but some quantity of fumed silica instead. Fumed silica as a constituent of the pelletized formulation does not show any adverse effect in the application; it provides general compatibility with thermoplastic resins when used as a compounding additive in thermoplastic systems to impart benefits such as processing improvements and modification of surface characteristics.

Special features: When added to thermoplastic resin systems at 0.1 % to 1 %, improved processing and flow of the resin is expected, including less extruder torque, less extruder die pressure, faster throughput, reduction of melt viscosity and better mould filling. At higher addition levels, 1 % to 5 %, also improved surface properties are expected, including lower coefficient of friction and greater mar and abrasion resistance. GENIOPLAST® PELLET P PLUS can also improve burning characteristics of polyolefins when applied in combination with halogen free flame retardant fillers. GENIOPLAST® PELLET P PLUS is expected to give improved benefits compared to conventional lower molecular weight additives, e.g. less screw slippage, long-term low coefficient of friction, fewer paint and printing problems, and a broader range of performance capabilities.

Application: Additive for:

  • polyolefin compounds
  • engineering plastics compounds
  • TPE compounds
