Master Bond MB270NT Ethyl Cyanoacrylate
Categories: Polymer; Adhesive; Thermoset; Acrylic/Cyanoacrylate Adhesive

Material Notes: Key Features:
  • Non-toxic as per ISO 10993-5
  • One component, no mix system
  • Rapid fixture time
  • Fast setting
Product Description: Master Bond MB270NT is a single component, high viscosity ethyl cyanoacrylate type system. The system cures briskly and is used primarily in applications where ISO 10993-5 for cytotoxicity is specified. Typically, cyanoacrylates have lower viscosities and once in a while they can be a gel. On the other hand, MB270NT, with a viscosity range of 25,000-30,000 cps, is certainly out of the ordinary. Cyanoacrylates are commonly referred to as super glues or instant adhesives. Their curing is dependent upon the humidity with the higher the level, the faster the rate of cure. Since the cure is fast, only minimal contact pressure is required for bonding. There is no mixing or heating required for curing. Depending upon the humidity and the substrates, MB270NT will typically set up within 30-75 seconds. Cyanoacrylates have limitations in their ability to fill gaps, with most commonly used systems, having gap filling capabilities up to 0.01-0.015 inches. MB270NT has improved performance in this regard, and depending upon the application, it can fill gaps up to 0.03-0.04 inches thick. MB270NT bonds well to a variety of substrates especially plastics, metals, rubbers and composites, especially in the shear mode. The service temperature range for this system is -60°F to +250°F. MB270NT can be used in a wide array of different applications ranging from repair to high speed production in which the ISO specification is required. It is highly resistant to EtO and gamma sterilization. Although many of the applications for MB270NT involve disposable type medical devices, it also can be utilized with reusable ones depending upon the service conditions.

Product Advantages:

  • No heating or mixing
  • Rapid curing at room temperature; usually sets up within 30-75 seconds
  • Contact pressure usually sufficient for fixturing
  • Bonds well to a wide variety of substrates
  • Excellent resistance to EtO and gamma sterilization
  • Can be used in disposable and reusable medical devices
  • Passes ISO 10993-5
