Master Bond EP51 Fast Curing High Bond Strength Epoxy Adhesive
Categories: Polymer; Adhesive; Thermoset; Epoxy; Epoxy Adhesive

Material Notes: Key Features:
  • Suitable for bonding and sealing
  • Easy handling
  • Fast setting
  • Very rapid curing
  • Cryogenically serviceable
Product Description: Master Bond EP51 is a high performing “5 minute” type system featuring rapid curing and convenient handling. What differentiates Master Bond’s iteration of this kind of product is that it is offered as a standard product and also in customized versions with variations in viscosity and color being readily available. EP51 has a forgiving one to one mix ratio by weight or volume. It is important to clarify a common misconception on “5 minute” epoxies. In reality, the working life is in the 5 minute range; the actual fixturing or set up time can range from 10-20 minutes depending the application and ambient temperature. Full curing also depends on these parameters and can range from 12-18 hours. Upon polymerization, the system has a high tensile lap shear strength along with good chemical resistance. Most importantly, EP51 has been successfully used in a number of cryogenic applications over the broad temperature range of 4K to +250°F. It bonds well to a wide array of substrates, including composites, metals, glass, ceramics and many rubbers and plastics. EP51 offers typically superior epoxy type electrically insulative properties. It can be used in aerospace, specialty OEM and related applications, particularly for repair. It is also useful in situations where a faster curing system for prototyping is desirable.

Product Advantages:

  • Non-critical one to one mix ratio by weight or volume
  • Easy application, adhesive spreads evenly and smoothly
  • Fast cure at ambient temperatures
  • High bonding strength to a wide variety of substrates
  • Available in various viscosities and colors
  • Serviceable at cryogenic temperatures down to 4K
