Evonik Crosslinker K 10
Categories: Other Engineering Material

Material Notes: Crosslinker K 10 is based on epoxy silanes (VIPS), i. e. silanes that cleave acetone during crosslinking. Acetone is volatile, non-corrosive and has a low odor. These silanes are used in electronic and clean room applications as they are not being adsorbed on silicon wafers as e.g. oximes. Moreover, acetone is not a VOC in the US, allowing Crosslinker K 10 to be used for Low-VOC formulations. Epoxy-cured silicones have a particular advantage when being used in closed compartments at elevated temperatures. Contrary to oxime, alkoxy, acetoxy and similar systems they do not undergo a reversion reaction which may otherwise lead to a softening or even liquefaction of the sealant.

Application: Crosslinker K 10 is used in sealants at a typical dosage of ca. 5 % in combination with tin catalysts such as Catalyst TD 18.
