Elkem Silicon 97
Categories: Metal; Nonferrous Metal

Material Notes: Silicon 97 is a large scale furnace produced and refined Silicon from Elkem. Unlike Silicon 98-99, it is a silicon grade containing typical 1,7% Fe, which gives a benefit in processes where Fe has to be added. Large furnace operation gives a high degree of consistency, both in analysis and in refining characteristics. The product has low calcium, slag and carbide content.

Silicon 97 is a refined grade silicon, containing max 0,05% Ca. The refining process guarantees a slag free product of high consistency. Silicon 97 dissolves easily and provides a high yield. Silicon 97 is an excellent silicon source for all aluminum alloys where iron is not a critical element. It can be used for all HP die-casting alloys, for hyper-eutectic alloys and for most AA 6000 extrusion billet alloys.
