FiberNide Nickel Aluminide Foam Atomic 10% Aluminum  (discontinued **)
Categories: Metal; Intermetallic; Metal Foam, Mesh, or Honeycomb; Metal Matrix Composite; Nonferrous Metal; Nickel Alloy; Other Engineering Material; Composite Core Material

Material Notes: Description: This Nickel aluminide foam has excellent high temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and conductivity. This unique combination of properties makes this foam particularly suitable for a wide range of catalyst supports, combustion mantels, and heaters. The ability to bond to other metallic materials allows the foam to be used as foam cores in high temperature metallic composites, high temperature heat exchangers, and probably for cooled surfaces for hypersonic vehicles. Results apply to nickel aluminide foam formed from 0.4 mm pore size, 0.28 g/cc nickel foam. The mechanical properties of the nickel aluminide foam are expected to increase as the density of nickel aluminide foam increases and as the pore size increases.
