Northstar Polymers MGP-W35A Very Soft Range Polyurethane Gel with Low-Tack Surface
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Polyurethane, TS; Thermoset Polyurethane, Elastomer, Unreinforced

Material Notes: MGP-W35A is formulated to yield a very soft (Shore OOO 35 – 45 Durometer Hardness) elastomeric gel material using the low viscosity liquid components. MGP-W35A is a 2-part liquid casting resin. Inexpensive soft molds or plastic/resin molds can be used to mold parts of this material. For small production quantities, it can be processed manually without a specific processing/dispensing machine. Possible applications for MGP-W35A include cushioning and padding parts, human-body part models for medical training products, specialty gaskets for cable installation application, prototyping of various soft elastomeric parts, and many other custom applications. Unlike some of the polyurethane gel class materials of this softness range, the tack level of cured surface is very low. The molded parts can be handled more easily and may be used without protective covering for some applications. When it is cut, the cut surface also has a low tack. Dies or sheets of MGP-W35A can be easily fabricated without getting very much residue sticking to the blades. MGP-W35A is made of mostly hydrophobic constituents and the molded parts are expected to withstand well in wet conditions. This may be an advantage when it is used to make gaskets used in wet and humid environments. The natural color of cured piece is clear with amber color.
