Rulon® is the Saint-Gobain trade name for their family of proprietary PTFE compounds. This family of materials offers the combination of high compressive strength, low coefficient of friction, and excellent abrasion and corrosion resistance while running without lubrication. They are used in bearing and seal applications from temperature extremes of 400°F to over 500°F with and without additional lubricants. A unique property of Rulon® is the absence of stick slip, that is, erratic low-speed motion.
142 Grade Bearing/Seal PTFE: A material for extremely heavy loads. Rulon 142 is ideal for linear bearing applications such as slideways in machine tools and heavy equipment. Excellent mechanical properties, good dimensional stability, and high thermal dissipation make Rulon 142 an ideal choice for highload linear bearings that require low creep properties. Turquoise in color. Material does not have electrical and thermal insulation properties. Suitable for steam, wet, dry, or vacuum environments. Rc 35 or high steel mating surface. Markets for 142 grade include Appliances, Automotive, Industrial, Transportation. Information provided by Saint Gobain Performance Products. |
