M Chemical GUARD DOG™ UV1164 Light Absorber, Triazene Derivative
Categories: Other Engineering Material; Additive/Filler for Polymer

Material Notes: GUARD DOG™ UV1164 light stabilizer is a derivative of Triazine that has an exceptionally strong and broad-range of UV absorption properties (UV A 315 -400 nm and UV B 290 - 314 nm) throughout the UV spectrum. It is a highly efficient UV absorber and is recommended for thermoset plastics and coatings that function as ultraviolet screens for photosensitive substrates.

Applications: It is mainly used in polycarbonate, polystyrene, acrylate, olefin, hydrocarbon, etc. It has good compatibility and low volatility and can be used in combination with other UV absorbers. It is used in PE or PP film, tape, Sheet and other resin systems such as Polyamides, PET, ASA, PETG, PMMA, PBT and PC (cap stock and general purpose).

Performance Benefits:

  • Strong and broad UV absorption with minimal color contribution. High thermal stability (10% wt. loss at 347°C)
  • Minimal interaction with metals and has high permanence (low volatility and high light stability).
  • Excellent compatibility with engineering polymers, polyolefins and other stabilizer chemistries.

Typical Properties:

  • Light yellow powder
  • Solubility (g/100g @ 25°C): Butanol 3.0, BA and MEK 17.0, Xylene 25.0, 1methoxy-2- Propanol Acetate 11.0
  • Max, nm: 293 & 342
