Solvay MTM® 249
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset

Material Notes: Description: MTM249 is a tough and dual-cure temperature prepreg matrix formulated for the manufacture of structural components operating at temperatures up to 200°C (392°F). MTM249 will cure at 135°C (275°F) and provide excellent mechanical performance for components operating up to 140°C (248°F). A 180°C (356°F) cure will increase the service temperature to 180°C (365°F) whilst retaining a high level of toughness. Maximum service temperature is 200°C (392°F) after a 200°C (392°F) post-cure.

Features & Benefits:

  • 21 days out life at 21°C (70°F)
  • 12 months storage life at -18°C (0°F)
  • Dual-cure temperature capability
  • Initial cure at temperatures between 135 and 180°C (275 and 356°F)
  • Dry Tg onset after 135°C (275°F) cure is 140°C (284°F)
  • Good mechanical performance with intermediate and high modulus fibers
  • Tack and drape properties ideal for complex moldings
  • Maximum Tg onset after post-cure 203°C (397°F)
Note 1: Material: MTM249/T800-120 to 145 g/m2 unidirectional fiber; 3 hrs at 135°C (275°F), 6.2 bar (90 psi)
Note 2: Material: MTM249/CF1218-200 g/m2 2x2 twill 6k T800 fiber; 3 hrs at 135°C (275°F), 6.2 bar (90 psi)
