Mo-Sci Corporation GL 0160 Bioactive Glass
Categories: Ceramic; Glass

Material Notes: Applications Typical applications of GL0160 include: bone grafting biomaterials, repair of periodontal defects, cranial and maxillofacial repair, wound care, blood loss control, stimulation of vascular regeneration, nerve repair. Bioactive glasses have the ability to bond to soft and/or hard tissue and are biodegradable in the body. The release of ions and the formation of hydroxyapatite support the regeneration of bone tissue and can accelerate the healing process. These glasses are made from high purity (analytical and reagent grade) chemicals, keeping unwanted trace impurities to a minimum. Precious metal or high purity ceramic crucibles are used to melt these glasses in dedicated furnaces and they are processed in an environmentally controlled space.
