Master Bond EP17TF One component, toughened epoxy
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Epoxy

Material Notes: Key Features:
  • High temperature resistant
  • Withstands rigorous thermal cycling
  • Well suited for bonding dissimilar substrates
  • Exceptional tensile lap shear strength
Product Description: Master Bond EP17TF is a specially formulated one component, epoxy for bonding, sealing, coating and encapsulating. It features good toughness, high temperature resistance, and exceptionally strong bonding strength. It has a paste consistency that is easy to apply. The cure schedule is 5-6 hours at 300°F. To obtain optimum properties, a post cure for 4-5 hours at 350°F is recommended. EP17TF is 100% reactive, contains no solvents or diluents, and has low shrinkage upon curing. EP17TF bonds well to similar and dissimilar substrates such as metal, ceramics, plastics and composites. Its lap shear strength is particularly noteworthy. It combines a relatively high glass transition temperature (Tg) of 150- 155°C, along with some compliance to compensate for thermal mismatches. This enables the epoxy to be used in applications where rigorous thermal cycling is an integral part of the operational requirements. EP17TF resists an impressive array of chemicals including acids, bases, fuels, oils and many solvents. The service temperature range is -150°F to +550°F. The color of EP17TF is beige, other colors are available. This product is a reliable electrical insulator, even at higher temperatures. EP17TF should be considered in applications involving aerospace, electronics, oil and chemical processing, and specialty OEM industries where temperature resistance, high bond strength and thermal cycling are significant considerations.

Product Advantages:

  • Single component system
  • Paste consistency, easy to apply
  • Accommodates thermal cycling
  • Impressive lap shear strength
  • Superior combination of high temperature resistance, especially for a forgiving type epoxy system
