Akrochem PROAID® RW Process Aids
Categories: Other Engineering Material; Additive/Filler for Polymer

Material Notes: Product Description: Akrochem’s Proaid RW is a carefully selected blend of resins and waxes, thus RW. Proaid RW is water-free, filler-free and designed to act as an economical processing aid for all natural and synthetic rubber compounds. Proaid RW reduces compound viscosity, improves mold flow (compression, transfer and injection) and release from all metal surfaces with minimal affect on cured physical properties in most compounds.

Applications: The dosage for Proaid RW is 1 to 4 phr, depending on the polymer and the process. Due to the wax constituent, Proaid RW has the tendency to bloom at about 5 phr. The loading to which bloom may occur is dependant on the rubber compound. The very low water content creates fewer problems in high temperature cures (like CV cures). Also, no fillers (no ash) have been added which means Proaid RW is more concentrated. All materials that makeup Proaid RW previously have been acceptable by the FDA (per CFR 21 177.2600 or 175.105). Proaid RW may be used to improve: mold filling and cured part finish, flow characteristics in molding operations, release from molds, mills and internal mixers, dispersion of fillers during mixing (add early in mix) and reduce mold fouling.
