Tenax® nickel coated short carbon fibers provide good process ability, resin compatibility, and translation of mechanical and electrical properties. Compounds containing nickel coated short carbon fibers provide higher heat distortion temperatures, and superior thermal conductivity compared to unreinforced polymers. Nickel coated carbon fiber is frequently used in thermoplastics and thermosets to add electromagnetic interference (EMI) or radio frequency interference (RFI) shielding. In addition nickel coated carbon fiber increases the electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity of the resin system well above the conductivity of carbon fiber itself.Information provided by Teijin Carbon America, Inc. |
