Akrochem Antioxidant BHT
Categories: Other Engineering Material

Material Notes: Product Description: Antioxidant BHT is a non-staining hindered phenolic antioxidant which helps protect polymers against the effect of heat and oxygen (oxidation). BHT is soluble in most hydrocarbon solvents. It is insoluble in water. Because of its high reactivity with free radicals, BHT also makes an efficient peroxide retarder as it removes the initial peroxide radicals formed and thus slows time to scorch. With addition of co-agents such as TAC, this affect can be overcome. Antioxidant BHT complies with USFDA regulations 21 CFR Part 175.105 Indirect Food Additives: Adhesives and Component of Coatings and Part 177.2600 Indirect Food Additives: Rubber Articles Intended for Repeated Use.

Application: Akrochem Antioxidant BHT is effective in elastomers such as block copolymers, SBR, EPDM, NBR, CR, and other synthetic and natural rubbers. It is also effective in plastics such as Polypropylene, Polyols, ABS, LDPE, HDPE, Polystyrene, PVC, Polybutylene, and hydrocarbon resins; and in oils such as transformer and lubricating oils, fatty acids, transmission fluids, synthetic and specialty oils. For general applications, typical dosage range is 0.5 – 4.00 phr. As a peroxide retarder, dosage range is 0.25 – 0.50 phr.
