Material Notes: Applications
PETROTHENE NA 216-000 is a general purpose, heavy and medium weight coating resin, capable of coating weights down to 7.0 lbs/ream at line speeds of 1200 ft/min. It can be applied to paper, foil, cellophane, polyester film, and other base stocks by the conventional extrusion coating process. Products made from materials coated with NA 216-000 include flexible packaging milk cartons, set-up cartons and food boards and other materials.

Regulatory Status
NA 216-000 meets requirements of the Food and Drug Administration regulations 21 CFR 177.1520 and 21 CFR 176.170. These regulations (respectively) allow for the use of the olefin polymer in "…articles or components of articles intended for use in contact with food; "or as components of the uncoated or coated food-contact surface of paper and paperboard intended for use in producing, manufacturing, packaging, processing, preparing, treating, packing, transporting or holding aqueous and fatty food." Specific limitations or conditions of use may apply.

Processing Techniques
The maximum recommended melt temperature for NA 216-000 is 625°F.
