DuPont Mobility and Materials GBL-900  (discontinued **)
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Fluoropolymer, TS; Thermoset Fluoroelastomer; Rubber or Thermoset Elastomer (TSE)

Material Notes: VTR-8650 is a 68% fluorine peroxide cured polymer similar to Viton® GBL-900 but with significantly improved processing and curing characteristics. VTR-8650 utilizes Advanced Polymer Architecture technology which includes a new peroxide cure site along with an optimized molecular weight distribution designed to deliver a polymer which:
  • Cures exceptionally fast to a high state of cure
  • Shows improved mold release/mold fouling properties compared to Viton® GBL-900 and 200
  • Shows improved mold flow, less shear sensitivity, and lower extruder die swell for a ~65 Mooney FKM
  • Shows excellent physical properties with high elongation, both original and aged
  • Shows similar heat, fluids, and low temperature resistance compared to Viton® GBL-900 and 200
  • Shows improved water resistance/volume swell in water compared to Viton® GBL-900 and 200
  • Shows excellent compression set resistance with either low or no postcure

It is recommended if mixing in an internal mixer to use at least a 70% load factor. The recommended process aid for VTR-8650 is 0.5 phr of Armeen® 18D.
