Pile driver pads are used to prevent damage to the pile and the piling hammer. Fillers are usually made of hardwood - Azobe, for example. The disadvantage of Azobe is the 30-40% energy loss and its relatively short useful life. Azobe is also difficult to remove from the piling pad. Monocast® pile driver pads last much longer, are easy to replace, are versatile (diesel hammer, steam hammer, prefab-piling, and vibro-piling), has the right elasticity to transmit the blow without damaging the pile or piling hammer. With MC® 904P's unique properties (coefficient of restitution with computations is 0.904; deformation under load at 122°F (50°C) 2000 psi (13.8 MPa) is 0.6% per ASTM D621), less energy is lost so piles can be driven faster with greater force.
